Pro: fast speeds as advertised, reliable

Con: international calling centres, Superhub

We've been with Virgin media since 2007. After a nightmare period with Sky, with lousy broadband speeds, unreliable connection and Sky/BT arguing over who maintained the line, we gave up and switched to VM. Installation was a breeze, 10mb ran at 10mb. And now 30mb runs at 30mb. Superhub is a bit flaky with wireless, so we switched to a 200mb Powerline setup....perfect. Only had two faults in 5 years and both dealt reasonably swiftly. But if only i could understand a single word their tech support were saying. And would be great if they would listen to me. About time Vm dropped their international calling centres. It would then be perfect.

Virgin Mobile Broadband Review

Started with Blueyonder which was so fast. That merged into Virgin takeover. Eventually mtook over several other broadbands. Now completely unuseable in peak times. Pages simply time out. Virging have been giving numerous excuses, sent several engineers round. Not the equipment but too many trying to use in my area. I am looking to move. London location

Brighton location. Excellent up to February 2011 terrible, especially for gaming (eg xbox live, woW) since then. Bad excuses from customer support.

Virgin Mobile Broadband Review

cant really complain, one of the best providers in my opinion. has been going off from time to time recently causing me to reset my router and modem, im told this is due to xl customers receiving free upgrades but as i have the large package (!) why should it affect me? as another poster mentioned, the cost has more than doubled and its due to rise again soon. thinking of shopping around or cancelling then signing up again to get better new customer deals.

Virgin Mobile Broadband Review

After going from Sky to virgin media 10mps package I an VERY impressed. The speed test mostly come in around 9.8M sometimes 9.9M. I have no outages that I know about. Speed is consistent. Had to call customer support when the TV went out. Service Status message took a few numbers to press so only 4.

Virgin Mobile Broadband Review

I have been with Virgin for 5 years for TV, Phone and broadband (cable). Broadband is fast and stable, I have tested it and get my 10MB. Very rarely I need to reset my modem and my router, but that's only every 6 months or so and takes 2 mins. They are very helpful on the phone and because its cable, I don't have to rely on the speed of the BT line! I thoroughly recommend them.

I have been with Virgin for 18 months now (moved from TalkTalk –the worst provider). I was paying £19.50 initially and now the cost has creped to £37 monthly! Fibre optic broadband is good. But I am not happy with the charges (increasing constantly without informing me). Looking into moving from Virgin soon.

Since setting up my virgin mobile broadband the speed and connection is terrible. Giving customer support a call they were very helpful, but unfortunately were not able to give me a solution. Some areas I have no problem with connection, but the majority of the time it is awful.

Virgin Mobile Broadband Review

Have recently purchased virgin mobile broadband and have found it great for working on the go in Liverpool. The speeds tend to vary abit, sometimes even to dial up speeds, but often get around 2mb.

Speeds

Virgin use T-Mobile’s network and speeds are middle of the road for both upload and download speed. We’ve received mixed feedback on speeds and with a smaller customer base than their rivals to some extent the jury is still out on Virgin mobile broadband.

Reliability and Coverage

Using T-Mobiles network Virgin coverage is decent though interestingly our own testing has seen Virgin perform very slightly worse than T-Mobile. Overall though Virgin are strong in this category.

Customer service

An otherwise decent service is let down by Virgin’s below par customer service. Virgin also scores below average in our customer satisfaction ratings.

Choice of plans and value

Compared to other providers the choice of plans is quite limited. Value for money is decent and on a par with most the other providers whilst not quite being the cheapest.

Overall verdict

Using the T-Mobile network Virgin perform similarly on speed and coverage. There’s less choice and they are not the cheapest whilst their non UK based technical support has been a cause of frustration for many customers.
