T-Mobile Broadband Review

Very disappointed. Firstly T-Mob were the only company whose map said I would get "good" indoor 3G coverage at home, which is why I chose them. In reality I can get only very poor, glacially slow, GPRS connection at home. Could it be that the other companies were being honest about their coverage and T-Mobile weren't? Even when I do visit a good coverage area, the connection regularly locks-up, requiring: shutdown, remove dongle, restart, reinsert dongle, to resume. I even bought a new laptop because I thought that might be to blame. Clearly technical bugs need sorting. Cannot recommend.

It is expensive and is advertised as unlmited access to the internet with no extra costs. They also say that they are the only provider that does this broadband connection with no limits and no extra charges.Basically this is not the case- today i used my allowance in the space of an hour - do not buy - you'll regret it

T-Mobile Broadband Review

I have had the Dongle for a about 6 month or so and have used it in various PC's and it has been ok (or what you would expect from 3G) However when I tried it in my Macbook Pro the software didn't work, after several calls and emails I am still waiting for the Business department to call me to resolve the issue. They only work from 9-5 which they believe is business hours, In what century was that? Most people in business who use mobile computing work outside these hours. Anyway, I am still waiting for the department to call me back as they are 'Not customer facing' what ever that means. (I think it means we'll get to you when we feel like it, or thats what it feels like to me.)

Was ok - now not so good

My dongle was fine for around 6 months or so - it had decent speed, it always connected & it rarely disconnected. But for about 3 or 4 weeks now it's been terrible - it takes 3 to 4 tries to connect (sometimes still doesn't), sometimes it connects and says it's all fine but there is no internet connection - no pages can be viewed and email can't be checked. When and if it does work it's so slow and unresponsive it's hardly worth the bother ! I'm using it to post this and wondering if when I hit send I'l just get a 'server not found' error ?. On the plus side I did find a way past the content lock - it's probably not allowed to put links here, but try googling 'no lock solutions' - it'l cost you a fiver but it works (worked for me anyway).

the customer service staff are too rude and keep offering you some things but what they say and what you get is completely different. when you try to complain, they dont care and are not willing to help. the network coverage is poor and the line keeps cutting off. i would not recommend T-Mobile, it's very unreliable.

T-Mobile Broadband Review

The customer support from t-mobile is PATHETIC. They're very happy to offer a new deal but as soon as something goes wrong you get passed from department to department and nobody wants to help. I asked to make a complaint and was told I had to email it. That's very useful when my internet dongle was broken!!!! The internet connection speed has been UTTER RUBBISH from the start. I live in a 'high-coverage' area so should have no problem with the speed but I'm frequently restricted to 'local access only' and it frequently disconnects itself from the internet. My advice is to avoid T-Mobile at all costs

T-Mobile Broadband Review

To people complaining, I say: first you should read the user guide. It's written in it that there is a content locked. Easyl removed with a simple call. I don't understand people complaining about that. So I write this article because I'm fed up to see so many comments of unsatisfied people. I'm extremely satisfied with the T- Mobile mobile broadband. Got the PAYG with USB Stick 150. Tested in 3 different locations and quality is excellent: NEVER experienced any disconnection, connection always succesfull at the first time, signal excellent (always 98%) and practical bandwith of 1.8 Mb/s almost all the time, even in the evening. So my hat off, T-Mobile. Just that NO mobile broadband can replace, at the moment, a "normal" broadband, in term of speed and reliability of bandwidth. People who expect the same level really make me laugh and shows that they did not understand anything. My hat off, T-Mobile.

T-Mobile Broadband Review

I brought t-mobile on monthly contract a few months ago and have found it brilliant. The speed has been much better than i expected and when i had to call the customer services i found them very helpful and quick responding to my query. The Asus netbook i got free has been great for checking facebook and sending emails whilst out and about!

T-Mobile Broadband Review

I signed up to the t-mobile free hp laptop deal in July and have been really impressed so far. I see some people have been moaning about speeds and sometimes things do slow down but I experience that with my home broadband too. The laptop is a very good spec and I've been acheiving speeds of around 1.5mb on average from my mobile connection, which is fine for what I need. I have already reccommended the laptop and mobile broadband deal to my friends and family.

i have recently purchased the new t-mobile usb modem & is alot better than there older version with the old modem i found that the top speed you could recieve was 3.6mbps & that was with a excellent 3g coverage when i signed up they did a coverage test on my postcode & came up with 4/6bars for 3g coverage in my area i have done a speed test & i get on average 5.3mbps but can get upto 7.2mbps when its not peak times when there's not many people on the internet at the sametime also i have found that this is one of the best service for money as i found out from previous experience that other mobile company have what they call a fair usage policy & charge you upto £15.00 extra if you go over the download limit where as t-mobile dont so overall i would rate this a good service

Unlike those in major cities and at 5 miles from the exchange the best landline adsl speed I ever got was 0.9 mbps. The mobile service consistently runs above 1Mb. Good enough to watch iPlayer in Lichfield city centre ! The only problem is that I use it so much now that I exceed my 3Gb limit and am then capped at 64K . recommended but watch your useage !!

So much better than getting mobile on your mobile phone. Admittedly not as fast as my Virgin cable home connection but great for working away from home.

Happy :-)

I travel to lots of rural areas have had decent coverage in almost all of them with T-Mobile. The connection varies in speed but the time and convenience of having broadband anywhere is great for me. It's obviously not as fast as traditional broadband but I guess it's a new technology and that will come in time.

i have it from sep2008, the first month was incredible stable, average 0.5Mbps-1Mbps. the next two dropped (capped) to 0.3Mbps and after below dial up speed. maximum during the day/evening is 0.2Mbps, even if gsm antennas are 300 meters, no obstacles from my window, network link 7,2Mbps practically the will offer above satisfactory service during cancellation period, after that, their business is based on terms end conditions: minimum 24 months to pay no mater what

Speed

T-Mobile perform the best on upload speeds of all providers but averages the slowest download speeds. For most types of internet usage such as browsing websites and emailing the typical speeds of a T-Mobile connection will be fine but may prove too slow for activities such as watching video clips or downloading films. T-Mobile are set to start sharing mobile networks with Orange which should see them move towards the top of the speed league alongside Orange.

Reliability and coverage

T-Mobile score above average for reliability and coverage and we hear fewer complaints in these areas than with some of the other providers. The move to share networks with Orange should give them excellent coverage and reliability in the very near future.

Customer support

T-Mobile have made a real effort be customer focused and this is one of the main selling points of this network who are ahead of the game in this respect. The first network not to penalise their customers for exceeding download limits and with good customer service and technical support T-Mobile lead the way in this category.

Choice of plans and Value

T-Mobile has a great range of mobile broadband plans even offering one with a pink dongle! However having offered arguably the best range of ‘free laptop’ deals these have now been completely withdrawn losing T-Mobile points in this category. Otherwise the T-Mobile broadband deals are competitively priced particularly if you occasionally stay over your download allowance.

Overall verdict

Clear winners on customer service T-Mobile are the most customer focused network and were the first to introduce a fair usage policy that didn’t penalise customers for exceeding their download limits. Whilst speeds are currently a little disappointing we expect that by combining their network with Orange’s, following the merger of the two companies, speeds should improve significantly to be as good or better than the competition. This should also improve coverage and reliability from mid table to excellent. If you want a network that really puts the customer first then T-Mobile should top your list.
