LTE wireless internet technology in the UK

The need for higher speed mobile broadband networks with the capacity for a greater number of users is becoming increasingly important as more users are now starting to use mobile broadband devices and smart phones, which is causing a huge strain on networks. One new fourth generation or 4G technology that mobile broadband providers are currently looking at is LTE wireless internet, which will provide a far greater network capacity and much faster connection speeds. Users accessing LTE wireless internet based services will enjoy a huge range of great new features that will allow them to make the most of their mobile broadband connection.

How will mobile broadband users benefit from the introduction of LTE wireless internet?

There will be a big change in the way that users access mobile broadband when LTE wireless internet is eventually rolled out by their mobile network provider. Users will be able to take advantage of a wide range of features including the high-speed transfer of large amounts of data, streaming music and HD movies, and the use of new web based tools and applications over their LTE wireless internet service. This will be made possible by the increases in the amount of data and the number of users LTE will be capable of handling along with the much faster connection speeds that at the moment only fixed line broadband connection are able to provide users.

Also, when compared to the current 3G network there will be a significant increase in the areas that LTE wireless internet will cover throughout the country. This will allow mobile broadband users to use their mobile devices in far more places at a much higher speeds over an LTE wireless internet network. Users will also find LTE wireless internet to be an excellent option if they live in the more remote and rural areas where fixed-line broadband connections are either not available or are too slow and network providers feel that it is not financially viable to roll out regular broadband services to these areas.

Other than LTE which 4G technologies will be available to users?

With the cost of upgrading their entire networks so high most mobile network providers are justifiably wary when choosing a fourth generation technology for their mobile broadband networks. Other than LTE wireless internet one of the main technologies currently being considered is WiMAX internet. Unlike LTE, which is a new and unique technology, WiMAX is simply a more advanced form of the regular Wi-Fi systems that are currently being used. At the moment most network providers seem to be looking more closely at LTE than the WiMAX alternative and some have even been trialling the LTE wireless internet technology to confirm its capabilities. These trials are an important factor for mobile network providers as there will be huge costs involved in building either of these networks so they can’t afford to make the wrong choice.
