No Coverage
Reviewed by Craig Little on November 20th (from Southampton)
I’ve had a bad experience with 3 mobile broadband having signed up last year. I chose 3 mainly because they were the cheapest. When I signed up I was living in Hampstead (North West London) and everything worked fine. At the time of buying the service I asked if it would work in Worthing where I’ve now re-locoated and was told that it would. However, I’ve had no coverage since I’ve moved and despite numerous phone calls 3 won’t cancel my contract. My mobile phone coverage is fine (though it’s with o2 not 3) so it’s not that my house can’t get a phone signal.
Highly Reccomended

Good value, fast speeds and good coverage. I would recommend Three Broadband to anyone.
Good speeds and Coverage

I’ve had Three Mobile Broadband for 3 months now and have always found the speed to be pretty good. Sure, it’s not as fast as my home broadband but none the less I’ve been happy with it to date and the coverage is good.
This works for us

I was sceptical about going for a mobile broadband package but as I move house every year or so, it seemed like a good plan. After the initial purchase, the cost is low, the speed is reasonable and the download allowance suits us. We all like this service and would do it again.
For your sake please read before dealing with 3

I purchased 3 mobile internet on a 18 month contract in October 2008 (3 shop huntingdon). At the time I knew I would be moving and was told in the shop that ‘I would always get coverage but the speed will vary’. The product worked as advertised until I moved address in April 2008. At my new address I cannot get any coverage. I complained to 3 and offered to pay them in full for the modem or suspend the contract until coverage was available. Sadly, 3 refuse to accept either offer so I will have to pay approx. £200 for nothing. In addition, because 3 have an 08707 number it has cost me £30 in calls to them. I will never get a contract with 3 again. My new home is in a large town with approx 2500 people and is 8 miles from peterborough - hardly the middle of nowhere and I get perfect mobile signal with my phone (vodaphone). I have taken my case to OFCOM. If you have to get a contract with 3 please make sure that you get any promises about coverage in writting, but better still don’t get into a contract with them at all.

I think that this is the best purchase I have made in a Long time, get coverage all over the place, move around a lot. And that is from inside a narrow boat a big steel box! Since I have had three I have been through towns and country from Weedon, Northants down to London and a signal in the most suprising places

I’ve not had a good experiance at all!
I have full signal and can see the transmiter from where I am currently sitting. Yet the best speed I get is a staggering 61Kbps!! I have contacted the customer services about 6 times, each of which I did speed tests internet settings and resets. They keep putting the case to the techincl tem, who call you back within 48Hrs (when your nowhere near you broadband modem!) having failed they then inform you to call the customer support team, who by the way will do the above tests again and tell you that them techincl support will call gin within 72Hrs.
I pay for 7Gb, but yet to get above 2gb data usage even if the computer is downloading 24Hrs aday.
I do not recommend this service at all, nothing but trouble even if it is the cheapest.
Awful service and company!

I had problems with 3 from the word go and too many problems to mention on here. Firstly the dongle didnt work, then the speed was really slow and then lastly it stop working all together. I called customer services and technical support )in India) and was not able to solve the problem. In the end I returned to the shop where I I found staff very unhelpful! Basically the do not provide the service that you pay for and in the end I ended up throwing the dongle and Sim away - would actualy pay money never to deal with 3 again!
Not So Good
Reviewed by David on July 17th (from London)
My experience of three is pretty poor.
According to my modem, I have maximum reception. However, it just stops working betwen 8pm and 10pm. I assume that the amount of users in my area eats up all the capacity.
It works fine during the day- like now! But not at night. The speed during the day can go upto 1.2 mbps, but averages about 300. During the evening it is around 100. It frustrates the hell out of me, as I can get 1.8mbps consistently out of my iPhone 3G.
Poor Speed
Reviewed by Robert on August 31st
The best speed I get is 64 Kbps, signal is showing as being good with it connecting to HSDPA network. Was told I would get about 512 to 1000 Kbps in the 3 shop.
Absolute rubbish

Very slow, nothing received far too often. Even to do this I had to log the dongle out and back in again. It is just frustrating rubbish.

Three broadband is great value, at £10 per month and no upfront cost you really cant fault the speeds and service you receive. Very Happy.
