Pipex a cracking ISP
Reviewed by Joe Dell on September 4th (from Glasgow)
I’ve never had any problems with Pipex, I’ve been with them 18 months and am happy with every aspect of the service.
Poor
Reviewed by Sara Williams on February 23rd (from London)
Pipex used to be good but they have definitely got worse, the problems really started after they were bought by Tiscali. I changed last month to Plusnet which has been much better in terms of both customer service, speed and reliability.
Gone downhill
Reviewed by Mr Osbourne on March 1st (from Derby)
I’ve been with Pipex for a numner of years and used to love the service but have found it has gone downhill dramatically recently with speed slowing down and the customer service is a joke.

Pipex is extraordinarily poor in my experience
Reviewed by Anonymous on June 21st (from Somerset)
As a long term customer of Pipex, I decided to switch to something faster and cheaper. They did not provide MAC without chasing. I have told them any number of times by email and in writing to close account
They confirmed my account has switched to new provider.
Suddenly - and withoput warning - they begin taking money from my account again.
They have ignored all correspondence - including FORMAL complaints.
Stay away unless you have an interest in complicated, pointless disputes
Rubbish

TECHNICALLY GOOD, SPOILED BY BAD ADMIN.
Reviewed by Anonymous on July 8th (from BLACKER HILL, S. Yorks)
I’ve been with Pipex over two years. Speed has slowly risen and recently I’ve been getting routinely 5.5 Mb during the day and 4.3 Mb late evening and nightime. Over that two years, only three complete breakdowns, up and running again within a few hours, although no one knew what was happening or when it would happen - or, indeed, that anything at all was wrong!! Foreign call centre customer service staff extremely polite and desperate to be helpful but hopelessly unaware of what’s going on and unable to be effective. Billing and admin hopelessly, Monty-Python-like incompetent, would have been funny if not driven to distraction by astronomic direct debits, unkept promises of correction “on the next bill” and inability to present cheques in under three weeks from date of receipt with resultant withdrawal of service although the bill had been paid TWICE!. And, of course, hours of time on the customer ’service’ (!) line, charged at 0870 rates, trying to get things put right. Telephone service impeccable but are not matching free international calls available elsewhere.
Finally given up in despair and gone to TalkTalk because of good reports from a friend. A shame - good technical performance ruined by blood-pressure inducing disorganisation.
The Demise Of Pipex
Reviewed by Anonymous on July 10th (from Ross On Wye)
Been with Pipex for years, superb reliability, speed and connectivity. It all changed a few weeks ago and has gobe downhill ever since, despite an upgrade and promises. I was assured that the Tiscali takeover did not affect business accounts or service. I am told privately that out line at the exchange is now actually routed to Tiscalis system. As an online business this is costing us dearly, our customer service level has been jeopordised, and we are losing orders. We,ve asked for our migration code and been told that they will penalise us for breaching the NEW contract. R.I.P. Pipex,
Steer well clear!
Tiscali coasting on reputation of Pipex.

I have been with Pipex since the days before broadband and have a hardwired ADSL connection - no splitters in those days. The service had always been great with prompt responses from tech staff and highly reliable connection and speed. Since being taken over by Tiscali everything has gone rapidly downhill. I will move to another provider asap but I had just upgraded before Tiscali took over. I have major problems getting into My Pipex as their site never accepts my username no matter what browser I use, so no access to webspace. Their tech support is a joke and I have been disconnected on several occasions. The prior average speed of 5-6Mb has been less than 2Mb far too often. I used to recommend them but now? Steer clear and run like hell!!
Pipex Broadband Services
Reviewed by Anonymous on August 10th (from Lockerbie)
I have been a user of Pipex Broadband and Telephony services for years. I also am a user of 123-reg a pipex subsidiary company.I have had nothing but praise for them in the past, alas since Tiscalli took them over they have taken a serious nose dive in the quality of their service reliability and as for their customer services they are UK based, however my experience since tiscalli is that they are rude, argumentative, lack some basic computing knowledge and unreliable. For those who say they have had a great experience, so had I, but wait until something goes wrong. Once they were my constant recommendation now they don’t come anywhere near a recommendation. Take a chance yes, but when something goes wrong it goes wrong big time due to their unprofessional attitude, so don’t bleat about it you have been warned! Watchdog has featured them on many occassions.
