I found the broadband service to be quite bad, the service will be ok for a while, but then I’m cut off, something that happens all the time. The email too is problematic. I have a few email addresses using pop3; they all work without any hitches except for O2 which shows errors 7 times out of 10. The McAfee software that they provide is more trouble than its worth, though being correctly installed and registered, it will not update and tells me to buy it. My experience with this company has been a headache from the start. My advice would be to stay well clear.
It’s a pity I could not have read this advice before purchase.
Supposed to be unlimited download speed, although I have been given warnings for downloading too much. I WOULD NOT RECCOMMEND THIS BROADBAND.
Hugely disappointed. I switched from BT because of price on 26.7.10 and still have no internet connection from o2 (over 3 weeks later). Their customer service are very friendly but are either technically incompetent or massively understaffed. They never ring back when they promise they will and I have spent hours on hold or repeating the same info to different people - and if anyone else from O2 suggests I change the filters to fix my problem I will lose it!!!
Basically, what seems like a good deal is a total nightmare and if you work from home, as I do, then don’t even consider them. Paul Kettell, Hove.
been with o2 since may 2010 a bit of a shaky start, slow speeds butnow running at at a steady 20 meg with no problems for months customer service is brilliant cannot be faulted have now moved my homphone and mobile to o2 such is my faith in the product
Awesome, lived in a student house
in Southampton last year, 15 quid
a month (7 for the first three
months). They said on the
advert up to 20mbps…we knew
this was bull shit lol. So we
ran a speed test when it arrived
(it arrived quickly)…….
26.7mbps !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!(our
jaws hit thee flaw)
An awesome year with o2, would definitely recommend.
Customer service was great and
friendly too.
I have been with O2 Home Broadband for about 2yrs on their £10pcm (I am an O2 mobile customer)20MB down, 1.3mpbs upload. O2 braodband used to be superb, very reliable and fast, great CS and very cheap. It was pretty obvious that they would be a victim of their own success so now their website is dire and it’s v. difficult to get any CS. Like most service providers nowadays, O2 are fine so long as you don’t need any backup but their apparent business model means you get no CS - not really any different from any other broadband provider.
the worst ISP i’ve ever used, constant disconnects, by constant I mean 3-4 disconnects every 10-20 minutes then a few hours of peace then straight back to the drawing board.
Its impossible to play games and they limit your connection for downloading, how can you call something ‘unlimited’ when you’re blatantly limiting it!
quite frankly, I am appauled at how this company has treat me as a customer, suing the company would probably be a good start but who wants to go through that!
o2 also chanrge rediculous fee’s to buyout your contract! £50 for o2 £10-20 for Virgin/BT/Tiscalli!? where does the other £30 come from!?
WORST ISP EVER, DO NOT USE.
been with o2 since may 2010 took 3 visits from open reach to sort ouy a slow speed connection but am getting the full rate both mobiles and home phone are now with o2 thats how good it is..
joined o2 from sky on may 7th o2 remarked the speed was a lot slower than expected and started things moving with 2 router swaps and then 3 visits from openreach and after swopping the line lift and shift? we get the full 20meg speed never has it been as good, sky managed 9 meg on the last day cannot fault o2 have moved my home phone and mobile to o2 if you are wondering thent just do it
When it works it’s fine but all
too often it goes down. Either
the wireless connection fails or
it fails completely. They sent me
a new box but that’s no better.
Various excuses are made. Someone
near me has a system which
interferes with mine. My Vista is
to blame. I’m too far away from
the wireless box (3 metres
actually). I’ll give them one
more go but I think it is a
system worth avoiding. The call
centre staff are very friendly
although I find the Scottish
accent difficult (being a West
Country man) and often they seem
to use pot luck in finding a
solution. Some staff are better
than others. My advice - stay
away if your value your sanity
Changed to O2 in April on the back of high speed and low cost and unlimited usage. The speed is not as high as their line test duggested but still good. line reliability is average not as good as my previous ISP Eclipse. My main complaint is the totally useless support. Very poor suport on start up with modem problems. More recently have been without e-mail for six days and still no help on the problem, spoken to 5 different advisors, no use , 6 promises of call back only 1 acheived and finally advised the technical team wont be able to address my problem for a further 15hrs and no guarantee of a response from support. Totally useless; dont use.
In june 09 I signed up for o2 access, it was a fast service offering everything i needed. Within six month their service had totaly went down the toilet.
Peak times speeds can be sub dial-up, even off peak speeds are starting to slow down. Im told this is due to the service being oversubscribed.
When O2 introduced trafic management to address the slowups, which the blamed on file shearing, some web servives became unuseable! Many ports where throttled to 48k or lower, when i complained and was fobed off with the most appaling excuses. this blocked some of the kids online games, spotify ect.
UNLIMITED DOWNLOADS
When is unlimited not unlimited? when its O2!
Download too much and you get a call thretened disconection. There is no way you can check usage on the O2 website, no guide as to what is fair to download despite these being in the OFCOM Code of Practice. looks like they trying to solve there congestion problems by getting rid of there customers!
I was inclines to think the whole service is run by a bunch of clowns but the O2 LLU services suffers from none of these problems, this accounst for the current jeckel and hyde O2 reviews.
Im leaving O2 ASAP, their current service is the worst I have ever has from a ISP
