Last weekend, yesterday and today download speed is about 25 kbps. No chance for streaming, youtube very slow, internet sites so-so.
Good speeds happen when you’re at work; afternoons and weekends are a joke.
The worst thing is I cannot complain because there are no technical problems - at some working days about 10am-4pm speeds are really good. So what, most people are at school/work.
Nowadays you can watch more and more stuff without downloading, just streaming. With o2 - forget about it. Downloading also takes ages unless you do it while at work/school. It’s useless.

Its now Feb 2010 and since Nov 2009 - my peak throughput has been 200kbps .
Customer services initially said I had to fullfill my contract - but now they are happy to let me go - - O2 has got a serious capacity problem because it offers unlimited downloads - and those users are allegedly going to be weaned off the system .
Anyway in the meantime - I’m paying broadband costs for little better than dial up service …. it wont get any better !!!!!!!!!!!!

You call customer service about it, and they just have no intention of helping, they try blame the line. There’s nothing wrong with the line because I’ve had different providers before and never ever had this problem.

Moved from ZEN Internet (top notch service but pricey at £25); moved to O2 LLU 24mb service (getting about 11.5mb) which is what I’d expect at my distance from exchange. LLU (ADSL2) 24mb service is fine as O2 can control their own equipment in your exchange. I think those on O2 8mb (ADSL) tend to have more issues than ADSL2. I’ve not had any problems. The ADSL2 modem sets itself up (o2 pre-configured firmware - dummed down for dummies type). The box itself has proven temperemental for a few folk (like me), but others love its SNR tolerance, speed and wireless range. Oh, and you get to talk to British folk.

Ping is 140ms tops and I have had to take a break from online gaming as its made it unplayable, by the time it gets through warcraft you are talking 300-1000ms from 40-80ms a month or so ago.
They have tried to shape the ports and cocked it up according to the technical line, I would not sign up to this if it was free at the moment, honestly!

I’ve got to say I had nothing but problems. When I first connected the speed was so slow it felt like dial up! Then when we used the phone we got background noise so the phone was unusable.
I let O2 know have the difficulties and they sent a new modem. I tried that but no luck. O2 insisted I open the BT box and try plugging in to somewhere else, or they would not do anything else. This took a number of months!
I refused to mess around with the BT box and continued to pay. However I decided why should I pay for this when it didn’t work and I informed O2. All I got in return was a patronising person telling me I had to take it on board it was my problem!
Luckily I have another line and I still had my old Pipex account that worked fine.
However they are chasing me for the cancellation fee!
All I can say if O2 is working fine great….but if you have a problem you are own your own!!!…that’s my experience.
They are now sending me to their debt collection service maybe if they concentrated on making their system work and positively sorting out problems it might be better!!
Maybe this shows you get what you pay for!
As soon as my wife’s and my phone O2 contract expire, next month they are going too….I feel that strongly!

Brilliant !
We have been with Eclipse for a number of years now and should have changed ages ago.
Within 7 working days of giving O2 the MAC code we were up and running.
Easiest set-up ever!
Its like a different Era on the internet now. Its super fast and doesn’t drop the line like Eclipse.
I can listen to internet radio now without the line dropping all the time.
At the prices they charge you would be mad not to look into changing to O2. We are on a bundled exchange which limits who we can use. But with 3 months free and 17.99 a month after, no-one else could provide unlimited download usage at this price. If you are unbundled its even cheaper at 7.99.
Would recommend highly!
Don’t suffer like we did for years with a slow, unreliable provider - switch!

Best broadband out there. I have their Pro

faster and cheaper than BT (where I paid
about £25pm) etc. (not fast due to BT line, not
O2/Be Unlimited equipment) BT was the worst
experience ever (engineers did not show up,
their customer service people kept transferring
me without speaking, hanging up, rude)
simply I was disgusted to see how can they
even exist. O2 has excellent customer service
(so far my experience; I also have phone
contracts with them), their pro package apart
from being up to 21mbps offers dedicated
phone support (when you call from landline to
their freephone, it jumps the queue), you’ll get
wireless box III (n-enabled). You get also first
30 days money back guarantee.
I had some issues, but they were always
resolved efficiently unlike with terrible

Being an O2 customer, I decided to go for the Broadband package… I was surprised to find they only charged £7.50 a month which is really cheap. I used to be a virgin customer, and am a very heavy downloader and I used to be capped by Virgin… but O2 have never capped me even though I download more now than I did with virgin.
I was quoted an estimate of up to 5mb, but when I tested my connection I was getting 6.5mbps which is more than what they quoted and I think that’s brilliant lol. To date I have had no problems with O2, and I was setup in just a week. I recommend them ESPECIALLY FOR HEAVY DOWNLOADERS :).

I signed up for the 16meg package and got the full 16meg! download speeds never drop below an average of between 11 and 14 meg, even during peak times. In this period of times, I have only experienced two problems (aproximately) and when I have called the customer service line I have never been holding long, always through to UK callcentre, speedy and accurate advice, and I would be sorted in no time. My father is with TalkTalk broadband and they are absolutely foul. O2 is my first broadband provider. Value for Money: It’s great value for money, especially if you’re an exisiting O2 pay and go customer. You just need to top up £10 every three months to keep the discounted rate going. Speed: Speeds are very good. They test your line for the first ten days after being connected where they send the fastest possible signal through - I synched at over 17Mbps before falling in time to 7Mbps - in line with the ‘upto 8Mbps’ package I had selected. O2 uses the ADSL2+ network used by Be, which about 2/3 of the UK can get and its faster than normal ADSL broadband. Customer Service: Customer service is free and UK based. Reliability: It took me under 30 minutes to set the broadband equipment provided up - just put the CD-ROM in and followed the instructions! All the router settings are done automatically. Did have one short outage of broadband, customer service said it was an exchange based problem (got through to customer service without waiting in a queue!)

O2 are (one and a half days in!) far and away the best ISP I have experienced so far - and I’ve used several - most recently Pipex, whose customer service has been appalling. I signed up for Standard - up to 8Meg, which is plenty fast enough for my needs. The set up was really straightforward - and I have quite a complex home network, which the O2 box recognised and set up automatically. I didn’t use the set-up disk, and the only thing to be manually configured was the SMTP setting in my mail client. I had to contact customer support over a minor matter, and they were excellent. I’m getting almost 6Mb download and 1Mb upload, which is three times what I got with Pipex on standard ADSL, for one third of the cost. Brilliant, and thoroughly recommended.

At the prices they charge you would be mad not to look into changing to O2. We are on a bundled exchange which limits who we can use. But with 3 months free and 17.99 a month after, no-one else could provide unlimited download usage at this price. If you are unbundled its even cheaper at 7.99.
