Vodafone offers free Facebook access to its customers
Beginning on Friday 24th July customers of Vodafone will be given a whole week worth of completely free access to the Facebook website either on their laptop using mobile broadband or through their mobile phone as long as they are using its services to connect.
The beginning of Vodafone’s Free Friday series was launched back in May by offering its users Free Mobile Internet access, which marked the provider now offering access to the internet for a flat rate of just 50p per day. Vodafone then became the first mobile service provider to offer users access to DRM free music when it then started Free Music Friday in June. The latest offer of free Facebook access will only last for seven day although this is the only real difference between this and the previous months offers.
The free Facebook offer is available to users connecting through Vodafone’s mobile broadband service through a laptop of a home PC and on mobile phones through Vodafone, although using mobile phones will only be free for facebook access, with the browsing of other sites for customers who do not have data bundles or are on Pay as you go services having to pay the standard 50p per day access rate. Data counters will be stopped during the browsing of the Facebook site for anyone who is using their mobile broadband service to access Facebook.
Vodafone have marked the start of the Facebook text alerts service, which will begin on July 24th, will this new free Facebook offer. The free text alert notifications that Vodafone users will be able to select range from pokes to status updates with the names which friends sent them included and can be set up by visiting www.facebook.com/mobile . Although these texts can be responded to by the user, the standard rate for texts with be applied for these responses.
