Vodafone aims to get mobile broadband service up to speed with fixed line

Mobile communications giant Vodafone has stated that it is carrying out improvements in Manchester to provide a better service for mobile broadband customers.

With mobile broadband having really taken off over recent months amongst both business and consumers many people are now enjoying the benefits of getting online whilst they are out and about, enabling them to do everything from check out prices and browse the net to conduct their business without even having to be in the office.

The mobile communications giant, Vodafone, which is one of the major mobile broadband providers, has recently stated that it is carrying out some improvement works in the Manchester area to improve its mobile coverage in order to benefit consumers. The upgrade is likely to cost millions of pounds, and the aim is to improve wireless and mobile broadband speeds in addition to increasing download speeds.

An official from Vodafone said: “Manchester, along with five other major conurbations, is now the fastest network in the UK.” He said that Vodafone was heavily investing in the network because it wanted consumers to be able to get the same quality of access whilst they are out on the move as they would if they were in the home or the office. He added that people travel to the area from all around Britain and expect to be able to conduct their business whilst out and about.

A spokesperson from Genesis Communications based in Manchester spoke about the improvement programme, stating: “This news is further evidence of the strength of Vodafone’s mobile broadband. We are proud to be one of the UK’s largest suppliers of the service.”

Recent research showed that Vodafone was currently the fastest provider of mobile broadband in the UK, with reports suggesting that it was four times faster than its leading competitor.
