Mobile broadband speeds doubled by Vodafone
Mobile communications giant and mobile broadband provider, Vodafone, has recently announced that it is doubling its mobile broadband speeds, which will come as great news to many of those that want to get online whilst on the move without compromising too much on speed and efficiency.
The availability of mobile broadband has made life far easier for many business and leisure broadband users in the UK over the past year or so. However, one of the problems that has dogged many mobile broadband users has been the relatively slow speeds of mobile broadband when compare to fixed line broadband, which in some cases, particularly for business users, can make things difficult.
However, one mobile communications and mobile broadband giant could soon be changing this by bringing in far faster mobile broadband speeds. According to recent reports Vodafone is now doubling the up to speed of its mobile broadband service, and this means that consumers could potentially benefit from speeds of up to 14.4 Mbps even with their Vodafone mobile broadband service, which for many may even be faster than the current fixed line broadband speed that they have.
Officials have said that whilst in theory users could potentially get this 14.4 Mbps speed from Vodafone, in practice most will not be able to achieve this highest speed, as there are many factors that need to be taken into consideration, including the user’s distance from an upgraded base station amongst other things.
One official from Vodafone said: “Sites with the greatest demand will be upgraded first with the 14.4Mbps capability. Busy areas of London, Birmingham and Liverpool have already received upgraded sites and the roll out will continue across the UK on an ongoing basis” She added: “Today’s network upgrade means customers can be reassured we’re consistently enhancing the quality of our network in response to demand.”
