Like many other communications firms Virgin has brought out a deal offering new customers a free laptop as part of a bundle deal.

Over recent months an increasing number of communications companies – largely providers of mobile broadband – have started to offer special deals and packages, often throwing in high tech gadgets such as laptops and notebooks when consumers sign up for a particular deal for a specified minimum contract period.

According to a recent report Virgin Media is now offering a bundle deal to new customers, which will include a laptop as part of the package. The bundle includes a cable broadband service with speeds of up to 20Mbps, unlimited anytime voice calls to UK landlines, and a HP 550 Notebook PC, all of which comes at an introductory price of £28.95 per months.

The notebook that comes with the package retails at around £329 on the shelf. The package allows for a digital television service to be included at an additional eleven pounds per month. The price of £28.95 applies for the first six months of the contract, after which the price will revert to the standard monthly fee, which at present is around ten pounds per month more than the introductory price.

Customers will have to sign up to a minimum eighteen month contract in order to qualify for the offer. The package comes with a free wireless router, and also a security software package to protect your computer against virus’s and pop ups. The laptop has a wide screen of 15.4 inches, and comes installed with Windows Vista Home Basic. In order to take advantage of the offer customers have been given until the end of the week to sign up to the Virgin XL phone and broadband service.
