A new partnership for mobile internet entered into by Virgin Media
It has recently been announced by Virgin Media that as well as offering a wide range of fixed and mobile broadband packages, which include the UK’s fastest fixed line broadband connection, it will now also be offering customers a new mobile portal.
This new portal, which is known as RoundU, is designed to offer anyone in the UK who uses Virgin Media’s mobile internet service and provides information based on geographical location. The information for the service is supplied by location-based platform specialist, Mobile commerce, through its local search service.
Users of the RoundU service will be able to find their exact location and also receive a wealth of information on the area they are in. General users will be able to find things like the nearest restaurant or hotel whilst business users will have access to the Thompson listing, which could be highly attractive facilities for many users. There will also be information on entertainment and arts content, venue information on The Press Association and the Itchy Guides and a whole range of other useful data wherever they are.
The chief executive for Mobile Commerce, Steve Page said “To be working with such a large and respected high profile company as Virgin Media – with 10 million customers – is something we’re relishing.”
The local search service that will be used by RoundU is expected to provide users with access to as many as 1.9 million business listings for the UK and will also offer over 11 000 venues that customer can dine or drink at throughout the country.
He said in conclusion “To be working with such a large and respected high profile company as Virgin Media – with 10 million customers – is something we’re relishing.”
