Virgin Media offers free security suite to subscribers
When it comes to the online world, there is no such as thing as too much safety. While many sites are safe and legitimate, there are millions upon millions of web pages that have been created by unscrupulous people who want to make money off of people by online scams. Some of these work by promising to send you over some money in exchange for transferring funds using your bank account, which in effect, gives these hackers access to your account information. Others try to offer you some free software that has been added with malware or adware.
Online stores that sell fake items or operate storefronts with no real products to send over is also a serious problem. This is why it’s important to be wary of deals that are “too good to be true” on the Internet. It also helps if you have already installed security programs on your computer or laptop that will warn you if you are attempting to access a site that has some security issues. Most security programs will also notify you if the program that you’re about to instal might have some viruses.
If you’re a subscriber of Virgin Media and still haven’t installed some sort of anti-virus program, here’s some good news for you: the broadband provider is now offering the Virgin Media Security suite free of charge for all customers. The package will be made available to all subscribers, regardless of the type of deal or package they have signed up with.
Virgin Media claims that they are the first ISP in the UK to provide its users and subscribers with universal safety and parental controls over their connections. This comes, as the firm rolls out an update for the Virgin Media Security software suite.
The Security suite was meant to safeguard computers from phishing attacks, spyware, and viruses. It also features an extensive range of customisable controls that will let parents block pornographic websites and control the type of content their children can view.
Jon James, executive director of broadband at Virgin Media, said: “We know that consumers are increasingly looking for more than just a ‘bare bones’ broadband connection and security is an important part of staying safe online.”
