Recent figures that have been published by media and entertainment giant Virgin Media have shown that many of its customers are getting close to the maximum speeds that they have signed up for with its broadband services.

Entertainment and media group Virgin Media recently published figures relating to the average broadband speeds that were being received by its customers, and the figures showed that many of the media giant’s customers are receiving close to the maximum speeds that they are signed up to, which makes a refreshing change in the current market.

The data that Virgin Media used for the figures came from broadband performance monitor SamKnows, which was taken on by communications regulator Ofcom to monitor speeds from broadband providers. It was revealed that at least sixty six percent of consumers that were signed up to the 50Mbps package from Virgin received a typical download speed of 47.8Mbps in November.

The figures also showed that the average speed that was achieved by customers that were signed up to the 20Mbps package from Virgin was 18.7Mbps. Those on the 10Mbps packages from Virgin Media achieved average speeds of 9.7Mbps on the L package and 9.6Mbps on the M package.

Virgin officials said that one of the reasons it decided to publish the figures was because it wanted all providers to be more honest about its broadband speeds with consumers. One spokesperson from Virgin said: “We believe that being honest about broadband speeds is important. We’re asking all of our competitors to be as honest as we are.”
