Virgin Media brings high speed broadband to Wales
Entertainment and media giant Virgin Media is bringing high speed broadband to Wales with speeds of up to 100Mbps for consumers and businesses.

Many people choose their broadband service with Virgin Media because of the high speeds that it offers with its fibre based broadband service. It has now been announced that Virgin is bringing superfast broadband to thousands of homes in Cardiff as well as some of the surrounding areas, which means that more people will be able to benefit from high speed broadband.
According to reports many homes in the area will be able to access the superfast broadband service with speeds of up to 100Mbps. For many people in these areas this will enable them to enjoy far more scope with it comes to their broadband use.
An official from Virgin said: “We know residents in Cardiff will be blown away by what 100mb can deliver and the very real impact this can have on day to day life, be it uploading family holiday videos to share with friends or downloading an entire music album in a matter of seconds. The launch of our 100Mb service in Cardiff is a significant milestone in the UK’s broadband evolution and a vivid illustration of the power of our next generation network. From establishing the UK’s first ever broadband service to the launch of 100mb just ten years later, Virgin Media has led the greatest developments in digital Britain.”
An Ofcom official said: “Broadband has the capacity to transform our lives, to make an enormous contribution to revitalizing our economy and transforming our public services. In order that this can be achieved, a new generation of high speed services need to be made widely available. Ofcom is helping to drive this process forward by promoting competition and encouraging investment. This, coupled with investment from the Welsh Assembly and the Westminster Governments, will ensure that citizens and consumers in Wales get the broadband services that they deserve.”
