Virgin Medias 50Mbps gets a significant price reduction

Sep 4 2009 / By Richard Patterson

The latest announcement of price reductions by Virgin Media of its fastest broadband package now means that unlike many of the other broadband internet providers ‘high-speed’ broadband access no longer comes with a hefty price tag.

New customers in the UK that sign up to Virgin Media will now only be charged £18 per month for the first three months to access its top speed XXL 50Mbps broadband package, although users will need to use either eBilling or Direct Debit payments.

Access to this service does require that users also take out the £11 per month virgin phone line service and once the 90 day promotional offer ends the cost of the service will increase from £18 per month to £28 per month.

If a Virgin phone line is not required new customers can choose not to take it and can still qualify for the 50Mbps service, although the 90 day promotional offer then increases to £33 per month and then once the offer ends the cost of the service will increase to £38 per month.

All the broadband packages offered by Virgin Media also come with a free modem and Wireless N router, free installation, free PCGuard Total, 100 free photo prints each month, automatic backup and unlimited storage space on its network. It also offers users some of the fastest broadband download and upload speed currently available in the UK no matter which package is chosen.

An industry expert advised “This deal from Virgin offers great value for money on a package with unrivalled speed. For those people who download a lot or stream music or TV through Spotify or iPlayer then this deal will be hard to beat.”

The telecommunications giant is currently preparing to launch a new broadband service that should provide users with download speeds of up to 200Mbps and is currently working hard to get as many users onto its 50Mbps package as possible before this happens.
