Upload speeds to be increased by Virgin
It has been reported that Virgin Media is to increase the upload speeds that its fibre optic broadband customers receive, giving them access to even better broadband services.
For some years Virgin Media has become well known for the provision of high speed broadband services and many people are able to enjoy the benefits of the broadband packages that this Internet Service Provider offers. Having led the way when it comes to high download speeds the provider is now looking to enable its customers to benefit from faster upload speeds as well.
According to reports Virgin Media has announced that it will be increasing and improving its upload speed for fibre optic broadband package customers. Once Virgin Media has increased the upload speeds for its customers those on the fibre optic broadband packages will be able to enjoy speeds that are up to three times faster than those being received at present.
Better still customers on these packages will not have to sign a new contract in order to benefit from the increased upload speeds, as they will automatically be upgraded by the service provider. Virgin Media officials said that this will be done as and when areas become enabled.
The rollout of the improved upload speeds will begin in September, and work is set to continue on the improvements over the course of next year. The company has also said that it will start throttling on its network for those that use peer to peer services, which is had previously only been doing with heavier users.
