Price cut for superfast broadband access from Virgin
Media giant and broadband provider, Virgin Media, recently completed the roll out of its superfast 50Mbps broadband service, providing these speeds to millions of homes in the UK. The provider has now announced that it is reducing the price of this superfast broadband service.
Earlier this year the Virgin Media broadband announced that it had completed the roll out of its long awaited superfast broadband service, which runs through sophisticated fibre optic networks and offers speeds of up to 50Mbps. Following completion of the roll out millions of homes in the UK have been provided with access to this superfast service from Virgin.
However, the media giant has announced some more good news recently, stating that the price of this service is to be reduced. This could mean that the mass market gains access to superfast broadband speeds in the UK for the first time. The availability of the service in the UK has also been extended, providing even more people with access to high speed broadband.
As from the start of next month new and existing Virgin customers that also take out a phone line will have the cost of the 50Mbps service reduced from thirty five pounds a month to just twenty eight pounds a month. For those that want to take the high speed broadband as a stand alone service the price will fall from fifty pounds a month to thirty eight pounds a month.
Industry officials have seen the move as very good news for consumers, and many think that the take up of the superfast broadband service will now be far greater because of increase availability as well as increased affordability.
