New Virgin deal from Carphone Warehouse

Oct 10 2008 / By Rob Webber

Carphone Warehouse is offering a new deal for customers that sign up to a Virgin Media XL broadband package through one of its stores.

With Virgin Media set to start rolling out 50Mbps broadband as well as coming out on top in recent speed tests some people may be thinking of signing up to a Virgin Media broadband package. Whilst this can be done via Virgin directly, some consumers may be able to benefit by signing up through one of the Carphone Warehouse branches as a result of a new offer that has been unveiled.

According to reports Carphone Warehouse is now offering consumers a free laptop if they sign up for a Virgin Media XL Broadband bundle package through one of its stores. The bundle includes 20Mb broadband, digital television service with one hundred and forty five channels, and a phone package that allows you to make unlimited free calls to UK landlines at anytime.

For the first six months customers will pay forty nine pounds per months for the Virgin Media XL Broadband deal, and after the initial six month period the cost will go up slightly to fifty six pounds per month. Customers that sign up for the deal through Carphone Warehouse will receive a free Toshiba Satellite L300 laptop, although there may be charges applied for delivery and installation.

Officials have said that the cost of the laptop to purchase would be four hundred and forty pounds. The laptop comes complete with an Intel Pentium Dual Core processor, Windows Vista, a 120GB Hard Disk, a built in webcam, and a 15.4 inch LCD screen.
One industry official said: “This really is a great offer. Unlike most of these ‘free laptop’ offers, customers signing up to the same package direct with Virgin Media pay the exact same monthly price as those getting a free laptop in Carphone Warehouse stores. This is about as close to a genuinely free laptop as you’re going to get.”
