More customers now taking higher speed broadband with Virgin
Virgin Media has become known for offering its customers high speed broadband of up to 50Mbps, and according to recent reports more and more people are now taking out the higher speed packages with this Internet service provider.
When it comes to high speed broadband Virgin Media is one Internet provider that is able to offer millions of customers a choice of packages with speeds of up to 50Mbps. Broadband users have become increasingly demanding when it comes to speeds over recent years, and this has been reflected in the rising number of users that are now taking higher speed packages with Virgin Media.
Figures have shown that more than forty one thousand customers are now signed up to the Virgin Media 50Mbps broadband service, which reflects an increase of eighty one percent compared to the previous quarter. In the last three months of 2009 the company signed up sixty three thousand new cable broadband customers, which took its total customer base to over four million subscribers.
The media giant has been upgrading all of its 2Mbps customers to 10Mbps, and claims that ninety eight percent of its broadband users are now on 10Mbps broadband packages. Well over half a million of its customers are on one of the two top tariffs offered by Virgin, which are the 20Mbps and the 50Mbps packages.
Virgin has also recently announced the roll out of its super-fast 100Mbps fibre based broadband service, which should be available in 2011. An official from the company stated: “Our unique network allows us to innovate and lead the broadband market. With 50Mb, we already offer the fastest widely available broadband in the country and by the end of 2010 we will begin the roll-out of a new 100Mb service.”
