There are huge numbers of casual and business consumers who are now enjoying the convenience and ease of mobile broadband and internet using devices ranging from laptops and dongles to smart phones and tablets. It has now been announced that millions of mobile phone users in the UK are set to enjoy faster internet speeds as a result of a deal struck between Virgin Media Business and Mobile Broadband Network Limited.

It is claimed that over thirty five million phone users will enjoy the faster mobile internet speeds and these are customers who are on Orange, T-Mobile and Three. The deal that has been struck between Virgin Media Business and Mobile Broadband Network Limited is said to be worth one hundred million pounds and will provide eligible mobile users to enjoy high speed internet access whilst on the go.

Mobile Broadband Network Limited is an equal joint venture company owned by Everything Everywhere and Three. As part of the agreement fourteen regional aggregation networks will be built across the UK by Virgin Media Business. This will improve MBNL’s bandwidth capacity.

Mark Heraghty, Managing Director at Virgin Media Business, said: “The mobile sector represents a compelling commercial opportunity for our business. As the only company with a nationwide fibre optic network, we can leverage that asset for all mobile network operators in the UK. This is just the beginning of our deployment and as we roll out this mobile backhaul proposition, operators will increasingly look to us as the best solution for handling the exponential growth of mobile data.”
