Broadband speeds of 10Mbps now enjoyed by 72 percent of Virgin customers

Is has recently been announced that upgrades of 10Mbps are being taken up rapidly by customers of Virgin media and triple-play bundles are now being taken out by nearly 60 percent of customer.

The number of customers that now has access to broadband connection speeds of 10Mbps and above has now reached 72 percent, and is all thanks to the rapid rollout of super-fast broadband connection speeds by Virgin Media.

According to the recent third quarter results from Virgin Media the number of customers that have now upgraded to broadband connection speeds of 10Mbps or above has now reached 2.7 million, which include a total of 834 000 who have had their connection speeds increased by the network operator.

The Triple-play pack that includes TV, home phone and broadband has now been taken out by nearly 60 percent of all Virgin Media customers.

The chief executive officer of Virgin Media, Neil Berkett advised “Our triple-play penetration is at record levels [59.5%] and over 10% of our customers now take all four services from us.”

The average revenue from each of its customers has also increased from £42 in 2008 to £44.24 and has been attributed to people opting for packages that provide better services including users opting for the new super-fast 50Mbps service according to reports from Virgin Media.

An industry expert commented saying “Virgin Media continues to lead the way with faster speed broadband products. Its on-demand TV service, featuring the BBC’s iPlayer also adds a compelling reason to buy for many households. Beyond that, though, customers can save significant amounts by bundling Virgin Media’s services, with triple-play packages that start at just £19.50 and include 10Mb broadband, digital TV and free weekend national calls.”
