Britain moving forward with fibre optic broadband connections
Cable network operator, Virgin Media has recently announced that it has now expanded its new next-generation fibre optic broadband network services across a large part of the UK.
This latest deployment of super-fast fibre-broadband connections by Virgin media has seen around 531 postcode areas now able to access these broadband services.
So far a total of 5000 users have signed up for Virgin Media’s latest 50Mbps cable broadband service, which it now considers to be its flagship broadband product according to a report from a popular broadband and telecoms information website.
When the broadband available in these post code areas was broken down it was found that 39 areas out of the 531 in the region will currently be able to get full access, also the number of postcode areas throughout the country that will receive around 80 percent of the total connection speed currently stands at nearly 260.
When looked at from an area specific point of view around 75 percent of users in Hampshire now have access to this next generation technology, and 90 percent of Sussex customers are now in a position to take out the new high-speed broadband connection.
In the Merseyside area over 750 companies have now signed up for this next generation broadband service from Virgin Media since the start of 2008. The network operators’ Internet Protocol Virtual Private Networks deal. (IPVPN) service is quickly becoming one of the most popular services that is currently available for businesses said ntl:Telewest Business, which is a subsidiary of Virgin media.
These latest rollout of this fibre optic broadband infrastructure throughout the UK has been followed by the CEO for Virgin Media advising that the company would be concentrating on bringing in new customers onto the new broadband service, although further expansion of the service is likely to be carried out to enable the company to fulfil its promise.
