Rumours circulating about a 50Mbps broadband service from Virgin

October 6th, 2008 by Rob

Current rumours in the marketplace are talking about a forthcoming release of a brand new breakthrough broad band service from the Virgin Media group offering its users access speeds of up to 50Mbps.

The marketplace is currently rife with rumours that Virgin Media, owned by Sir Richard Branson, may soon be releasing an incredible ground-breaking broadband internet service. The company itself has already achieved huge success in the UK and is becoming a serious competitor in the broadband market so the possible introduction of this 50Mbps service will make it the fastest commercial internet provider in the UK.

The rumour is of a collaboration between Carphone Warehouse and Virgin Media to provide the constantly increasing numbers of broadband users out there with the new XXL broadband package. It could be considered a perfect match if it is true, as with Virgin Media’s brand awareness and the incredible selling power of Carphone Warehouse the future would allow these two groups to open a lot of doors.

It is said that there will be a variety of TV and phone service bundles and even free laptop bundles available with the new broadband package from Virgin Media. And with the ever increasing need from consumers to have even faster broadband this deal could possibly change the whole face of the broadband market in the UK and force users to strongly consider which provider is the best option.

The pressure would definitely be huge for the main companies like BT and Be broadband, which are currently only trialling the high speed broadband services. It must be said though that with the unpredictable and highly volatile nature of the UK broadband market, the chances of Virgin Media monopolising the marketplace over the long term is unlikely.
