Broadband industry never gets boring
Chief Executive Officer of Virgin Media, Neil Berkett, has recently stated that the broadband industry is always developing and that things never get boring within the industry.
Recently broadband in the UK celebrated its tenth anniversary, and as many consumers will already know the technology has come a long way in the past decade, with speeds getting faster, coverage improving, reliability getting better, choice becoming wider, and prices becoming cheaper.
The ever-changing face of the broadband industry has recently been highlighted by the Chief Executive Officer of Virgin Media, Neil Berkett, who claims that things never get boring within this industry.
According to Mr Berkett the broadband industry of constantly evolving, and he stated that there is never “an uninteresting time in this industry.” He said that things were set to get even more interesting within the sector as a result of the Digital Economy Bill, which was recently rushed into law in the run up to the general election on May 6th.
Berkett also said that the Digital Britain report, which was published by Lord Carter last year, had created debate about the future benefits of various broadband related issues, adding: “It may not have come out the way he expected but he did a good job in bringing it together and raising the profile on both sides of the House.”
Virgin Media has played a big part in the evolution of the broadband sector, having led the way in terms of advanced technology with its fibre based broadband services, and having built up a reputation for its high speed services, with speeds of up to 50Mbps already available and speeds of up to 10Mbps and 200Mbps set to be launched over the next couple of years.
