Drop in the level of new broadband subscribers
Over recent years an increasing number of consumers in the UK have decided to subscribe to broadband through one of the many different providers that are offering their services on the market these days. Consumers have enjoyed low cost prices, increasing speeds, and value for money on their broadband, which goes some way to explaining the popularity of this type of service in a world that is increasingly reliant upon advanced technology.
However, a recent report has shown that the level of new broadband subscriptions has been falling, and according to the results of the survey the level of new broadband subscribers fell in the third quarter between July and September, coming in at 470,000 new subscribers, which was a drop of forty thousand compared to the second quarter, which saw 510,000 new subscribers signing up to broadband.
A number of broadband providers have released their third quarter figures recently, and this combined information shows the decrease in the level of new subscribers in the broadband field. Around fifteen million people subscribe to broadband in the UK, which means that around forty percent are still without any broadband service either due to preference or due to inaccessibility.
The second quarter, where there were 510,000 new broadband subscribers, reflected a drop from the first quarter of the year, so there seems to be a steady decline in the number of new broadband subscribers in the UK according to these figures. Experts state that the slowdown in broadband subscriptions is not just within the UK but also across Europe as a whole. It is thought that many people are not keen to switch to broadband because they do not feel that they use the Internet enough to warrant a switch from dial up to broadband despite the value packages that are available.
