Talk Talk has confirmed recently that with its recent takeover of Tiscali broadband customers that are currently Tiscali customers will have to either bundle their services or pay extra.
The struggling broadband group Tiscali was bought out by broadband giant Talk Talk earlier this year, and Talk Talk has now announced that it will be migrating Tiscali customers that are on broadband only deals on around 7th January 2010. However, the broadband giant has also announced that Tiscali’s broadband only customers are going to have to either bundle their services with Talk Talk services or will have to pay extra to continue with their existing service.
Basically, Tiscali broadband only customers have been told that they will either need to switch their home phone service to Talk Talk by January 14th 2010 or they will have to pay five pounds a month more to continue with their broadband only service. Talk Talk has stated that as a result of the merger in January the group is trying to align prices.
One official from Talk Talk stated: “Tiscali customers will become TalkTalk customers in January and we are aligning prices. Those who are broadband-only with Tiscali have been invited to take TalkTalk phone and broadband for £14.99 which we think is a great deal.” He added: “We are a phone and broadband company and offer the best deals on this basis; if customers don’t want to take calls from us and wish to remain broadband-only, the price will increase to £19.99.”
Another industry official stated: “While TalkTalk’s broadband and phone package is good value for money, if you’re a Tiscali customer and you’re not happy, you should compare broadband deals online using a broadband comparison service and switch to a package that better suits your needs and budget.”
