3 mobile broadband customer base close to half a million
Communications giant 3 has recently announced that its mobile broadband customer base is now close to hitting the half a million mark
Over recent months the mobile broadband market has been gaining momentum fast, with an increasing number of consumers signing up to mobile broadband as a result of the convenience, flexibility, and mobility that it offers, coupled with the competitive deals and packages that mobile broadband providers have been offering in order to increase custom in this area of the market. The mobile broadband market has become highly competitive, with a range of mobile providers offering a choice of deals and special offers to those signing up for the service.
Recently one of the mobile communications giants, 3, has announced that mobile broadband subscription levels have been soaring, and the firm has confirmed that its mobile broadband customer base is now close to hitting half a million subscribers. The firm has around one million customers on mobile broadband across the whole of Europe, and these figures show that half of its mobile broadband customer base in located in the UK.
An official from 3 said that there had been a twenty percent drop in voice traffic on its network due to an increase in terminations, but added that data usage levels had soared by an astonishing six hundred percent. He said: “We pay out £190 million per year to subsidise the other network operators as a result of the new termination rates, which have had the effect of increasing our payments to other networks. Therefore, we have had to put our prices up. As a consequence of putting prices up, we have seen a 20 per cent fall in voice minutes on our network. However, our data usage is up 600 per cent.”
