Talk Talk describes UK as a leading broadband nation

According to recent reports, the broadband and communications giant Talk Talk believes that the UK has managed to establish itself as one of the leading nations when it comes to broadband and digital services.

It has recently been claimed by communications and broadband provider Talk Talk, that the UK is becoming one of the leading nations in terms of broadband and digital services. The comments come despite the many concerns over the budget set aside by the government for the rollout of higher speed broadband and over the continued delays with the 4G spectrum auction, which affects mobile broadband services.

The company believes that consumers in the UK are able to access some of the most competitive prices on broadband and some of the most innovative services across the world. The group also said that the UK was now benefitting from having created stronger competition in the broadband market. One official from the firm said that when it came to broadband the UK now enjoy excellent choice, attractive services and high take up levels.

David Goldie, Group Commercial Director at TalkTalk, said: “The telecoms market has undergone a complete transformation in the past six years. In broadband we’ve gone from being a laggard to a leader, with BT’s monopoly status no longer hampering competition and innovation.”

He added: “Unbundled networks have been rolled out to over 90 per cent of the country and customers are paying on average over 50 per cent less for their broadband than they did in 2005 while getting speeds which are four times faster. This is thanks to regulatory focus on promoting local loop unbundling (LLU) – where companies like us are able to install equipment into local telephone exchanges.”

Do you agree with Talk Talk with regards to the UK being a leading broadband nation?
