Internet Service Provider Talk Talk has announced that it is giving its customers the opportunity to sample superfast broadband.

In a recent announcement the Internet Service Provider Talk Talk has said that it will be allowing its customers to sample superfast broadband with the launch of a new service, which comprises a basic broadband package with a low monthly fee combined with a series of add on services, which will include a broadband speed boost facility.

The provider is launching its my Talk Talk broadband package for a low price of £6.49 per month, but this will come with various add ons, which will include the ability to boost the broadband speed to up to 24Mbps. Other add on features will include half price mobile calls, cheaper fixed line calls, and additional download capacity.
The broadband speed boost will cost an additional £4 per month, and officials have said that customers on the broadband package will be able to activate it at any time. Users will also be able to boost their download limits from 40GB to 80GB as part of the package.

An official from Talk Talk said: “People’s communication needs are constantly changing and we need to provide a phone and broadband service that reflects this. Great value is still the number one priority – and myTalkTalk offers an identical ‘pound-for-pound’ to our existing broadband package – but choice and transparency are now high on the agenda.”

Furthermore, the speed boost will come with a test, and if consumers are not happy with the speed boost they can get their money back. An industry official said: “It is good that TalkTalk is offering to refund people if they don’t see a difference.” He added: “Consumers will be weighing up broadband costs in the same way as their electricity bill or their petrol consumption.”

I have been with talktalk for around 20 months. The first few months were a “nightmare”. At one stage I was off line for 10days. Having to ring up quite often and dealing with service in India was an additional problem. I did write a letter of complaint to talktalk’s head office which was ignored. Having said that things did settle down and I have had no real concerns until a month ago when my connection started to drop out on the odd occcasion. Checking my “speed” it was varying between 450Kb to 1.2Mb at night and around 1.2Mb to 5Mb during the day. Having spoken to a second level engineer I was told that even though their “Sychronised Speed” was around 6Mg they couldn’t gaurantee that I would get that at my computer, as it depended on the amount of people using the Internet through the day and night.
A big consideration is cost and I found talktalk to be very competitive in providing an overall package of Telephone and Internet service, far less than many other providers. As things are at the moment, I feel that the package is very good value for me.

I have been with TalkTalk for nearly 18 months have had a couple of hiccups with b/band which could well have been with the phone line from the exchange which after all said and done is BTs I only live 1 1/2 miles from the exchange I have found on occasions impossible to log on some times for hours although talktalk have been really helpfull I feel that no matter how good the equipment they install we will never get anywhere near the speeds they boast of untill the cables in the roads and up the telegraph poles are replaced we will always have problems I feel that the money these people are making should be used to uprate the cabling from the exchanges I have been seiously thinking of moving to Virgin perhaps this is the way to go!
