New mobile broadband deals announced by TalkTalk
In an effort to compete with its rival network provider 3UK, the largest consumer Internet service provider in the UK, Talk Talk, has recently announced the launch of a new mobile broadband package, which bears a striking resemblance to the one offered by 3UK.
The new mobile broadband package offered by TalkTalk comes with a 1GB data allowance and costs £10 per month on a one-month rolling contract, the same as the 3UK mobile broadband package. If the provided monthly data allowance is exceeded it will cost an extra 10p for every extra MB, which works out at £100 per GB, and there is no Wi-Fi package bundled in with the offer.
At the moment only TalkTalk customers who have either home broadband or a home phone will be able to take advantage of the offer. As well as the monthly cost users will also have to pay a one-off charge for the USB modem of £30. The current offer from 3UK, however, compares slightly better with an offer of 3GB monthly data allowance that can be used for 90 days and charges users £29.99 for the USB modem.
So far the sale of the new package to non-TalkTalk customers has not been confirmed by the telecommunications provider, nor did it confirm the average connection speed of the network it would be using to provide its new mobile broadband service or any other details.
In a statement a TalkTalk spokesperson advised “We think our packages will be extremely attractive to customers looking for a low-cost but high-performance mobile phone or mobile broadband service”
To become a quad play player TalkTalk will now just have to offer its customers a TV service but so far no indication has been given that this will be happening.
