It has been announced by a leading Internet provider in the UK that it is looking to increase its broadband coverage across the country to around ninety percent by the end of this year. The ambitious plans have been unveiled by Talk Talk, which is hoping that its plans to boost the coverage that it provides for broadband services will enable it to also boost its customer base with ninety percent of the UK population able to access its broadband services.
Talk Talk is the biggest broadband and phone provider in the UK, and has unbundled seventeen hundred telephone exchanges. Already, the provider covers around eighty percent of the UK when it comes to its broadband services. Whilst its plans involve only an addition boost of ten percent it could still mean greater number of customers stemming from a larger number of people being able to access its broadband service.
Talk Talk installs its own kit in unbundled telephone exchanges and this allows consumers to directly use the provider’s next generation network rather than having to use the BT network in order to access broadband services. A further three hundred exchanges are due to be unbundled by Talk Talk over the course of the year, which will enable it to boost its coverage to ninety percent if all goes to plan.
An official from Talk Talk said: “We’re also upgrading the capacity of our network in anticipation of ever-higher internet usage. The industry expectation is that consumption of data online will increase by a whopping 50% year on year over the next few years. We’re enhancing our network to cope with this explosive rise in demand”.
