Despite concern amongst a number of industry officials and service providers the recent flurry of online activity that came with the release of the long awaited Call of Duty: Modern Warfare game had no adverse effect on broadband networks.
Up until a couple of days ago a number of industry groups and broadband service providers were feeling nervous, as the day of release for the long awaited game Call of Duty: Modern Warfare fast approached. Many were concerned that the sudden flurry of inline activity stemming from the released of the game could result in broadband networks being overloaded and services going down.
However, based on reports following the release of the game it appears that there were no problems, and gamers were able to enjoy playing the online game without any network problems or interruption. The game was released earlier this week for the PC, PS3, and X-Box 360, and gaming enthusiasts flocked to get their hands on the game.
One Internet Service Provider, Talk Talk, had already said that it was prepared for the onslaught, and had already predicted that its networks would have no problem coping with the strain that would stem from so many people getting online to play the game. Most online gamers already have a decent broadband service with speeds that can cope with their needs.
However, it was not all good news for those that were hoping to enjoy this game, as some people were using knocked off pirate copies of the game. Those playing on their X-Box using the X-Box Live service were shocked to find that they were disconnected by Microsoft, which managed to determine which had been modified to play knock off versions of the game.
