Broadband giant creates more jobs in the UK

Dec 9 2009 / By Rob Webber

The UK jobs market has really suffered as a result of the recession, with many people losing their jobs because of the state of the economy and the knock on effect on business. However, one broadband giant has recently announced that it is increasing staff numbers.

With the global credit crisis and the recession having hit the UK hard over the past couple of years it is little wonder that the jobs market in the UK has suffered so greatly. Over the past year we have seen the closure of many companies, including big name retailers, and many people in the UK have ended up losing their jobs as a result of the recession and how it has affected the market.

However, whilst unemployment levels still remain bleak one broadband provider has stated that it has created a number of new jobs for consumers, and the jobs will be created at a sales centre in Waterford. The announcement was made by Talk Talk broadband, which said that it will be hiring around sixty more people at its call centre, where there are already around seven hundred people.

Out of the sixty jobs being created fifty will be on a full time basis, whilst only ten will me available on a part time basis. The call centre was set up over ten years ago back in 1998, and the staff members at the centre are able to provide technical advice and support for customers that are with Talk Talk and AOL.

An official from Talk Talk stated: “The driving force behind TalkTalk’s growth over the last 10 years has been our people, whose skills, professionalism and dedication are essential to our continuing success. We have a fantastic team here in Waterford, made up of highly motivated individuals who put our customers at the centre of everything we do.”
