Sharing of Mobile Broadband opened up by T-Mobile

A new docking station that will give users and anyone nearby the ability to share their mobile broadband connection has been launched by T-Mobile.

Having originally been unveiled back in October, the Mobile Broadband Share Dock is now available in the shops. The Share Dock allows for a single mobile broadband connection to be shared by many users. Anyone taking out a £20 per month Mobile Broadband contract over 18 months will get this new device included free exclusive to T-Mobile.

Usually small businesses often use a sometimes unstable consumer level broadband connection to meet their backup requirement, whereas this type of platform would make an excellent replacement option for anyone looking for a more reliable connection.
In almost the exact same way as a regular Wi-Fi router the dock lets a standard mobile broadband USB stick to be plugged in by users, and also prevents any unauthorised access to the mobile broadband network from users who are in range by using password protection.

The head of internet and entertainment at T-Mobile UK, Richard Warmsley said “Mobile broadband has experienced huge growth across the market. As its popularity grows, we engage with our customers to continually improve and provide them with exactly the service they want. One of the key insights that came back from users was the desire to share the connection with friends and relatives. The Share Dock makes this a reality in a straight forward and simple way.”

With most users often experiencing limited bandwidth access over a mobile broadband connection it has been recommended by T-Mobile Broadband that no more than three users should connect to the device at the same time. Also, users should be aware of what they are downloading due to the 3GB allowance with the service based on fair usage.
