UK families enjoying great deals on broadband bundles

A recent report has shown that families in the UK are enjoying amongst the best prices in Europe on broadband, phone, and television bundles

Over recent years the UK has seen a rising number of broadband providers enter the market, which has made the world of broadband increasingly competitive. In order to offer the most competitive deals these providers have bundled together broadband, television, and telephone services, so that consumers can save more money by taking all three services together, and these bundles have proven very popular amongst households in the UK.

According to a recent report from Ofcom, the UK’s communications regulator, families and households in the UK are getting amongst the best value for money on their broadband, telephone, and television bundle packages when compared to other European destinations such as France, Italy, and Germany. By the end of the first quarter of 2007 forty percent of households had taken on these triple bundle deals compared to just twenty nine percent by the end of the first quarter of 2006.

A number of broadband providers and media giants introduced triple bundle packages last year, including Virgin Media, BskyB, and Carphone Warehouse (TalkTalk Broadband). This may have had a significant impact upon the increased take up of bundle packages amongst consumers and households in the UK.

According to Ofcom in 2006 Virgin Media offered a triple cable, phone, and broadband package for just £25 per month, and the regulator states that in France a similar package would have come to around £27.22 per month; in Italy, around £34.94 per month; and in Germany around £39.77. Ofcom also stated that in the US a similar package would have come to a whopping £69.54 per month.

More and more people have taken advantage of bundle deals from Internet providers over the past couple of years, with many providers offering increasingly tempting deals in order to beat the competition.
