Impressive broadband and phone figures for Sky
Media and entertainment giant BSkyB has released data showing how it managed to increase its broadband and phone customer base in the three months to the end of September.
It has been reported that media and entertainment giant BSkyB has enjoyed impressive customer growth, with the company releasing figures that show its broadband and phone customer growth in the three months to the end of September. The figures relating to customer growth for BSkyB has left telecoms giant BT lagging behind.
The figures show that BSkyB signed up six hundred and forty thousand more customers in that three month period, and this included one hundred and seventy eight thousand broadband customers, two hundred and three thousand phone customers, and two hundred and sixty thousand line rental customers.
BT is said to have been focussing on a big marketing drive to try and entice customers away from Sky, but the figures seem to indicate that the drive doesn’t appear to be having the effect that BT had hoped. Officials from Sky also reported that revenues had also increased during the period by fifteen percent. Operating profits were also up by twenty five percent to around £255 million.
An official from Sky stated: “Our focus this quarter on home communications has been rewarded with our highest ever take-up of broadband, telephony and line rental, alongside further good growth in high definition. To support our continued growth, we plan to open a new contact centre next year with the creation of 500 jobs.”
