BSkyB enjoys strong revenue growth

Recently released figures have shown that the broadband and communications giant BSkyB has enjoyed strong revenue growth year on year.

Whilst the depth of the recession may have made many think that broadband and related service providers would suffer financially this does not seem to be the case, as has been shown by recent figures released by one broadband and communications giant BSkyB. The figures from BSkyB show that the company has enjoyed strong year on year growth in terms of revenues.

The company reported that in the third quarter of last year it enjoyed revenue growth of ten percent year on year, which compared well to expectations of just under six percent for the full year. The growth was seen through increased take up of its broadband services and broadband bundle deals and was partly fuelled by the company dropping the upfront costs relating to its HD services.

Nearly four hundred and thirty thousand new HD subscribers joined up during the quarter, which brought the figure up to two and a half million. The company now also has close to two million customers that are taking bundles comprising broadband, television, and landline services, which has further helped to boost revenue.

However, whilst the news of increased revenues has been welcomed by the company reports claim that the increased revenues have come at the expense of increased installation costs and higher marketing costs. Despite this many think that continued marketing by BSkyB regarding its services during the recession has helped to set the foundations for a more successful future even though it may have increased marketing costs over the short term.
