BSkyB enjoys continued success in the broadband market

September 1st, 2008 by Rob

Communications and media giant BSkyB continues to enjoy success in the broadband market, unlike some of its rivals, according to a recent report

According to recent reports and figures the media and communications giant BSkyB is continuing to enjoy success in the broadband market since its launch two years ago, despite the fact that many of its rival broadband providers have seen subscription levels falling as a result of the global credit crunch and the problems in the housing market, which have resulted in fewer people moving home and fewer property sales.
The broadband market has been highly competitive for a number of years, and on the grand scale of things BSkyB is a relatively new player in the field, having launched its broadband service just two years ago. Despite its relatively recent entry into this market the provider has managed to notch up over one and a half million customers, and expects to increase this number of customers to around three million by 2010 – a goal that officials from the group state is entirely achievable.

In the meantime rival broadband providers such as Tiscali, Carphone Warehouse, and even leading broadband and television provider Virgin Media have seen customer numbers falling over recent months, although industry officials have said that one advantage that Virgin Media has is its superfast broadband speeds.

BSkyB has surged ahead of its rivals when it comes to the sign up of new broadband customers over the last six months, and plans to enjoy continued success in this field. One official from the firm said that there was definite room for growth in terms of getting many of its almost nine million television customers signed up to broadband.
