Broadband and TV giants go head to head in Ofcom survey
A recent survey carried out by communications regulator Ofcom showed the customer satisfaction results relating to pay TV services from two of the UK’s biggest broadband and TV providers.

In a recent survey carried out by the UK’s communications regulator, Ofcom, two of the UK’s biggest broadband, TV and communications rivals went head to head. The two providers were assessed with regards to customers satisfaction levels of their pay TV services, with one seeing improvements in satisfaction levels and the other seeing a fall in satisfaction levels from consumers.
The two providers that went head to head over their pay TV customer satisfaction levels were Virgin Media and BSkyB. The study included a range of providers of TV, broadband, and landlines, although it was ring fenced to those that had at least a 4 percent share of the market.
Virgin and BSkyB were assessed over the customer satisfaction levels relating to their pay TV services. The results showed that overall, customer satisfaction with pay TV service was high, coming in at sixty six percent. However, whilst BSkyB saw satisfaction levels comes in at sixty seven percent, which was an improvement from 2009, Virgin had seen dissatisfaction levels increase from ten percent in 2009 to sixteen percent in this latest study.
The study showed that the main reasons customers were contacting their providers with regards to their pay TV services was either to change their package in some way or to call out an engineer to fix a technical fault with their service.
Are you particularly satisfied or dissatisfied with Virgin or BSkyB when it comes to customer service?
