Best value for money broadband access offered by Sky
Latest research has found that when the average cost of packages and the average broadband connection speeds are taken into account together the best value packages in the UK are offered by Sky Broadband.
A new survey that was created to find out which packages offer customers the best value for money relative to their speeds has found that Sky Broadband is currently the best provider in the UK.
The average cost of a broadband package from Internet Service Provider (ISP) Sky broadband worked out at around £1.14 for every 1Mbps worth of speed over the connection, which compare to £2.93 per 1Mbps offered by the last place provider, BT.
With costs coming in under the £1.50 mark were a whole number of providers including Tiscali, Virgin Media and Plusnet, while for less than £2 per 1Mbps were O2 and TalkTalk.
The chief executive officer of Simplifydigital.co.uk, Charlie Ponsonby said “Broadband speed is vital, so we strongly encourage customers to consider how much broadband speed they will actually get for their money before signing up.”
With average connection speeds of 8.6Mbps it was advised by the survey that Virgin Media should be used by any uses that puts the speed of their connection over its cost, although network provider O2 came in second place with connection speed of 4.6Mbps.
The fact that many users are not getting the connection speeds that they pay for has been highlighted by recent research carried out by Ofcom with the average advertised connection speed found to be 7.1Mbps whilst the actual average connection speed for broadband in the UK is 4.1Mbps.
In a recent effort to win the trust of customers trust regarding broadband connection speeds, network operator Virgin Media announced that it would only advertise connection speeds that it knew most of its users would be able to get.
