Satellite broadband for UK firms upgraded

It has been reported that a satellite broadband service from Eutelsat, offering access to firms across the UK, has been upgraded to offer faster speeds to businesses.

There are many businesses across the UK who are keen to be able to access higher speed broadband services. For many businesses having access to high speed broadband is vital because broadband and internet has become so vital to firms, affecting everything from their sales and marketing abilities to their success in competing against national and international rivals.

It has been reported that a satellite broadband service from Eutelsat, offering access to firms across the UK, has been upgraded to offer faster speeds to businesses. The Tooway satellite broadband service is offering speeds of up to 10Mbit/s for consumers and up to 50Mbit/s for business customers. This can be accessed from anywhere in the UK or Europe.

The service is available with immediate effect and could provide a real boost for business users in more rural areas, who may be finding it difficult to find adequate broadband services via traditional means. A number of service upgrades have been made available and the cost of the service starts from £24.99 per month.

Steve Petrie, northern European director for Eutelsat subsidiary Skylogic, said: “We have the entire UK covered, and customers can order the service from today and be up and running within weeks.” He added: “There are still about 250,000 homes in the UK that can’t get anything other than a dial-up internet connection, and many other broadband users can’t get more than 2Mbit/s.”
