Aims for service coverage in the UK to be boosted by Satellite Broadband provider
A new broadband service has been launched recently by a major satellite broadband provider that offers users who live in areas that are not covered by regular fixed broadband with an alternative option of getting access to the internet.
A new service that is aimed at covering areas of the UK that currently have no access using fixed broadband network has recently been released by Eutelsat, a provider of satellite broadband services.
Any part of the UK, no matter how remote the location is, will be able to access the internet at speeds of 2Mbps using the Tooway satellite broadband service, according to reports from the company.
The purchase of a modem and satellite dish will be required by customers in order to use the new satellite broadband service, which is to be delivering using the Eurobird 3 satellite said the provider.
The pledge that has been made by the government to provide every home in the UK by 2012 with a guaranteed broadband connection that will run at a minimum speed of 2Mbps will see satellite broadband services like this, along with mobile broadband services, playing a huge part in help to achieve this goal.
In a recent interview the director of multimedia and value added services, Arduino Patcchini said “We are mainly targeting consumers who are underserved by other broadband providers, but packages for professional users can be provided by our partners.”
For broadband customers he also said that “no other operator has any comparable service planned” advising that this new satellite service will be “unique”.
A recent warning that government would need to spend billions of pound in order to provide fixed network broadband service to every consumer in the UK came from Matt Warman, a technology journalist for the Daily Telegraph, in related news.
