Orange unhappy over ban on mobile broadband advert
Mobile network giant and broadband provider, Orange, has expressed its dissatisfaction with a ruling that has banned it from using a mobile broadband related advert in its current form.
Officials from the mobile network giant and broadband provider, Orange, have recently expressed their dissatisfaction of a regulatory ruling that banned them from using a mobile broadband advertisement in its current form. The ruling banning the firm from using the advertisement came from the Advertising Standards Agency.
According to reports the Advertising Standards Agency said that Orange could no longer use a promotional advert that claimed its 3G mobile network provided better coverage than the networks of its rival network providers. Orange officials said that the claim made in the advertisement was based on population coverage. However, the Advertising Standards Agency claimed that the advertisement was too ‘ambiguous’.
Orange officials said that they had no choice but to accept the ruling by the ASA, but added that they felt as though the company could not talk about the quality of its coverage as a result of the ASA decision. Company officials have also accused 3, which is the rival company that complained about the advertisement sparking the investigation by the ASA, of now using the same claims.
An official from Orange stated: “What’s of most frustration is the company who raised the complaint, 3, have themselves started to use the same claim that we have been banned from using – the biggest 3G network by population.”
Orange has also confirmed that as of July it will be known as Everything Everywhere, which is the name that was chosen following its official integration with T-Mobile.
