Shorter broadband subscription now offered by Orange

Communications giant Orange has announced that it is now enabling consumers to subscribe to broadband packages for a shorter period of time.

One of the things that many consumers look at when choosing home broadband services is the amount of time that they have to subscribe to the service. Whilst some broadband plans can initially appear to offer great value for money many people are put off by lengthy contract periods, as in the current financial climate many are loathe to lock themselves into a contract for eighteen or even twenty four months.

However, communications giant Orange has announced recently that it is enabling its customers to subscribe to broadband plans for a shorter period of time, enabling them to enjoy greater flexibility and freedom when taking out home broadband services. This could encourage more people to consider taking services from Orange, as they will see the reduced contract period as an added bonus when choosing broadband services.

Prior to this change customers that were taking out home broadband services with Orange had to subscribe for a minimum of eighteen months, which for many people was too long to commit to a particular provider. The reduction in contract period means that consumers will only have to commit for twelve months.

It is further reported that the provider will be offering unlimited public wireless broadband access for all subscribers to its broadband deals. This will give customers access to more than two hundred thousand WiFi hotspots across the country so that they can get online using their tablets and laptops.

Do you think more providers should reduce their contract periods?
