Survey shows many think mobile broadband has been hyped up
A recent survey carried out by communications giant O2 has suggested that many consumers feel that they have been given a lot of hype with regards to mobile broadband.
There has been a great deal of hype over mobile broadband over recent months, with this relatively young technology taking off enormously, and the market becoming increasingly competitive. However, a recent survey was carried out by communications giant O2, and the results of the study showed that many consumers thought that mobile broadband was over-hyped and failed to live up to its promise.
Over ten percent of mobile broadband users said that they felt they had been mis-sold with regards to what mobile broadband offered, stating that costs were higher than expected, coverage levels were not up to standard, and that there was very little comeback if the consumer found that the service was not right for them.
Many consumers were not happy with the costs associated with accessing data overseas or exceeding data limits, and others thought that WiFi hotspot access needed to be included as part of the deal. Peter Rampling, Marketing Director at O2 broadband, said: “Across the industry there are too many customers whose mobile broadband expectations have been set too high and have then been disappointed. This is a terrible shame given there are loads of people who are having a great time with mobile broadband.”
Taking into account the responses given by those involved in the survey, officials from O2 have said that the communications giant is revamping its mobile broadband packages to make them clearer for consumers to understand, as many had stated in the survey that they found it difficult to get their heads around the terms and conditions associated with mobile broadband deals.
