Slow broadband huge issue for many UK consumers

A study was recently carried out by the mobile network operator O2 showing that slow broadband speeds is one of a number of major concerns harboured by consumers in the UK.

In the current economic and financial climate it would be natural to think that consumers in the UK had a range of different, major issues to spend their time worrying about. However, a recent study was carried out by O2 broadband, showing that amongst the issues that were causing concerns amongst consumers was the issue of slow broadband speeds.

Despite issues such as the huge public deficit, issues in the financial sector, spending cuts, and other major issues that are affecting the nation many consumers that were polled said that their biggest daily issue was having to cope with slow broadband speeds. Out of those polled as part of the survey a massive forty one percent said that slow broadband speed was one of their major concerns.

This compared to just twenty six percent that were more concerned about crime levels, and only eighteen percent that were more worried about job losses. Consumers were asked about their daily frustrations as part of the O2 ‘niggles and narks’ campaign, which provider states “aims to tackle some broadband frustrations such as slow connections and lack of friendly customer support”.

An official from O2 said: “It’s clear from this poll that the British public is getting increasingly frustrated with the UK’s broadband services. As the new government comes in, and it looks to get the UK online and connected by 2020, we think that now is the time for all ISP’s to change their ways and try to eliminate as many of these daily frustrations for our customers as we can.”
