New 20Mbps broadband package under 10 released by O2
Recent changes to the broadband prices of a major mobile broadband provider has made its current tariffs the lowest unlimited download packages in the country.
With the dropping of its current 16Mbps broadband service and replacing it with a new 20Mbps service, telecoms provider O2 have now become the cheapest broadband provider in the UK, offering this new service at under £10 per month.
Other than the usual fair usage policy otherwise referred to as an unlimited usage allowance, this service amazingly comes with no limits on how much you can download. On top of this O2 are offering a McAfee security software package that can be used on as many as 3 PCs and 200 free web texts each month, all in the one package.
Also running at 20Mbps, but for those who download more heavily is the O2’s Pro version of the package. Included in the Pro package, priced for O2 customers at £17.13 per month, is an Enhanced wireless router, which rather than using the standard 802.11g now uses the new 802.11n wireless protocol giving enhanced speeds of up to 2.5Mbps, a further 2 McAfee security licences, 500 free web texts per month and an optional static IP address.
An extra payment of £4.89 per month will be charged to customers who are not with O2 for at least 12 month but there is no added connection charge for these services. The highest connection speed that can be achieved on a customers phone lines will be worked out by O2 carrying out a line check.
O2’s sister company Be broadband which is also part of the Telefonica group, in comparison, is charging £21.50 a month for its 24Mbps Be Pro broadband service.
A comment from a popular IT new site stated “O2 has surpassed itself once again. With the introduction of the first 20mbps under £10 (for O2 customers) and without any download limits, the Telefonica-owned company has set the standard which other ISPs will need to achieve.”
