Plenty of scope for increase in mobile broadband take up
According to a recent report many people have expressed an interest in mobile applications, and this increases the scope for an increased uptake of mobile broadband.
Mobile broadband is a relatively new technology that has stormed onto the communications scene over recent months, and has been welcomed with open arms by those desperate to access the Internet on the go, such as students, business people, and even those that want to enjoy recreational Internet surfing whilst relaxing in the garden, the park, or even on the beach.
According to a recent report, around six percent of the population in the UK access the Internet whilst on the go using mobile technology in May, and most industry experts expect this figure to rise quite quickly given the increased demand for mobility and convenience from consumers, and the more competitive deals that are being launched by various mobile broadband providers who are hoping to attract increased custom and beat off rival providers.
The six percent that used mobile broadband in May equates to nearly three million users. However, the study also showed that out of the nearly twenty nine million people that use fixed line Internet around sixty two percent or nearly eighteen million would be interested in one or more mobile applications, indicating that there could be many more people ready and waiting to embrace mobile broadband technology in the near future.
Speaking of those already using mobile broadband one industry official said: “These are people who have everything. On the whole they are young, well-paid, well-educated and they own a much wider range of consumer goods than the average, particularly digital devices of all kind.” He added that based on the number of people expressing an interest in this mobile technology there was room for rapid growth.
