Fixed line broadband is a necessity

Whilst many continue to speculate over whether mobile broadband will eventually replace fixed line services one report has insisted that fixed line broadband services will always be needed.

Since mobile broadband services began to increase in popularity many people have started to speculate with regards to whether mobile broadband services will eventually lead to households getting rid of their fixed line broadband services altogether and relying solely on their mobile broadband instead – in the same way as many people have got rid of their landlines and are using mobile phones as their main home phone these days.

However, whilst some people have predicted that a rising number of people will replace their fixed line broadband with mobile broadband in the near future, one recently released report has stated that fixed line broadband is a necessity for many households and therefore mobile broadband will not replace fixed line services for most users.

Experts have said that mobile broadband and 3G enabled devices have made it possible for people to access the Internet more freely when and where they need to, and these advancements in technologies have revolutionised the way we get online. However, they also said that there would still be a need for fixed line services, and they would not be replaced by mobile broadband services.

One expert said that the advancements in 3G and mobile broadband were in line with the demands of consumers, many of whom now want to stay connected whilst they are out and about. However, he added that fixed line services were unlikely to start disappearing any time soon. It is thought that many people use mobile broadband services to complement their fixed line broadband services rather than to replace them.
