A recent list of the towns and cities receiving the slowest mobile broadband speeds was released by a broadband industry group, and showed that Milton Keynes had the slowest 3G speeds.

Mobile broadband is a technology that has become increasingly popular amongst both casual and business users. Many people have become more and more reliant on the flexibility, ease, and convenience that mobile broadband services offer, enabling them to get online with ease whilst out and about for entertainment, communication, browsing, and business.

However, the speeds that people get with their mobile broadband services can vary based on factors such as their provider and their location. A broadband industry group has recently released a list of the towns and cities in the UK with the slowest mobile broadband speeds, and according to the results of the research Milton Keynes has the dubious honour of having the slowest 3G speeds in the UK.

The average mobile broadband speed in Milton Keynes, which is in Buckinghamshire, was just 1.73Mbps. The fastest town, which is Peterborough, boasts mobile broadband speeds of an average 3.6Mbps. However, the speeds in this study were only assessed using Apple smart phone handsets. Other towns and cities that features in the ten slowest for 3G speeds included Liverpool, Cardiff, and Birmingham.

An official involved in the research said: “There’s clearly a disparity when it comes to 3G connectivity across the UK. Despite efforts by the government and mobile operators to increase the speed of 3G services, there is evidently still a long way to go.”

Are you one of the people receiving amongst the slowest 3G speeds in the UK? Let us know with your comments.
